I have been observing these two trucks for about 8 years now. I met the owner at an old tractor exhibit and asked permission. He was there this morning and showed me the other Mack trucks he has been restoring. Quite an impressive collection.
https://bnelsonphotos.com/blog/24/#commentsFri, 28 Dec 2012 01:17:51 -0800Nature Photos

The last month has been very busy getting our house ready to sell. In the meantime, I have been able to sneak out occasionally to snap a few photos. Have taken some good bird shots at Bodega Head.

Today, Bruce Morrison and I headed to Jenner, CA to photograph the harbor seals that laze around at the mouth of the Russian River, eating all the steelhead and salmon that try to make it upstream. If a human tried that, off with their head!

I was surprised to find many osprey and brown pelicans feasting with the comorants and seals. It must have been a good run.

https://bnelsonphotos.com/blog/post/21/

On Monday, Bruce Morrison and I headed out for Ano Nuevo State Park with reservations for a tour of the Elephant Seals. We were the first group and there were mostly adults with cameras.

We were instructed to stay a distance of 25 feet from the animals. Yea, right!

We were being guided through some dunes when an Alpha male started clearing the beach of younger bulls. Many scurried past us and the Alpha disappeared behind the dune. The next thing we knew, he was fighting and pushing a large male up the dunes toward us. A huge fight ensued with the group only about 10-15 ft away. We were scrambling for higher ground and got some great photographs of what went on. Bruce mentioned it was like a C coupon ride at Disneyland. It only lasted for less than 3 minutes, but was very exciting. I am in the process of posting the photos right now. They can be found in the Legacy Photographs

A video will follow soon. Bruce is processing that.

Hope you enjoy.

As of last week I cut prices on all Fine Art Photographs. Most are cut by at least 50% so you can have some affordable, cool Fine Art Photographs on your walls.

It usually takes 2-3 days to process the prints and another 2-3 days for delivery in the USA.

I have a new film processor and the work is superb and the shipping is great.

Hope you enjoy and have a great new year!
https://bnelsonphotos.com/blog/19/#commentsWed, 07 Dec 2011 12:03:54 -0800Cool, Cold Photo Shoot

Last Thursday, Bruce Morrison and I headed for the Tule Elk Reserve on the Pt Reyes National Seashore. We arrived just at sunrise amidst a heavy fog. We had anticipated parking at the lot and hiking 2 miles north to photograph the elk herds. To our suprise, before we got to the parking lot, we encountered 3 herd of elk on both sides of the road, hiding in the dense fog. Unbeknownst to me, Bruce created a video of the encounter.

After photographing the elk, we decided to hike north to the end of the trail. About two thirds of the way there, it started to rain steadily. Since cameras and rain do not mix, we turned around and went back. As it turned out, the best photographs were at the begining of the trek.

It has been a busy summer. Lots of vacation time, a reunion and visiting family. Just like heaven. It is very quiet at home now.

I just finished setting up my photographs in the Rohnert Park Regional Library. I would like to invite anyone in the area to come visit the exhibit. The exhibit starts on August 16 and runs til August 27.
https://bnelsonphotos.com/blog/17/#commentsSat, 13 Aug 2011 17:27:00 -0700Last Years Model Trucks

Ok, maybe not last years' models. Definitely last centuries' models. How many of you were born when these vehicles sat new on the show room floor? Hmmm..... I think I was just a baby when a couple of them were introduced. Anyway, thanks to Peggy for allowing me to intrude into her fields to snap a few photographs.
https://bnelsonphotos.com/blog/16/#commentsThu, 26 May 2011 15:16:18 -0700Wildflowers in bloom
https://bnelsonphotos.com/blog/post/15/

I have been busy the last month taking advantage of the wildflowers that had been blooming around Sonoma County. I say had because things dry up quickly after the rains stop. It amazing to me, as i observe wildflowers, how small most of them really are. If one isn't careful, it is real easy to just pass them by. Most are the size of a quarter or less. Photographing them with a macro lens makes them seem bigger than they really are. (Caution, objects in photo are smaller than they appear)

Admiring these little beauties is a little like admiring a newborn child. One has to stop, hold it and examine the baby, only to find it looks like a shriveled up old man. Hmmmm. Lousy analogy!

Anyway, stop and admire the wildflowers. In some places of the country, wildflowers are just starting to come out.
https://bnelsonphotos.com/blog/15/#commentsWed, 11 May 2011 13:18:10 -0700
